Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Collection Event on July 18, 2020

Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Collection Event

Saturday, July 18, 2020
8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

To Be Held At: 626 Dutchess Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY
(access off of Route 44 to Burnett Boulevard)

Registration and $10 Prepayment Required

Please where a mask while signing in at event. Do not exit your vehicle, event staff will unload your household chemicals and electronics.

Open to Dutchess County Residents Only

Registration is limited to the first 360 households

These events are partially funded by the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation

Acceptable Items:
Product Containers Marked:
“Warning”, “Hazardous”, “Flammable”, “Poisonous”, “Corrosive”
Photo chemicals, non-latex driveway sealer, pool chemicals, creosote, kerosene, flammable liquids, metal polish, turpentine, stains, varnishes, strippers, thinners, gasoline/oil mixture, brake fluid, antifreeze, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, chemical fertilizers, adhesives, resins, solvents, oil & lead based paints (no latex!), mercury containing devices, computer monitors, CPU’s, fax machines, printers, TV’s, stereos, telephones, lithium & sealed lead acid batteries (no automotive!), fluorescent tubes.

Do Not Bring:
Waste in containers larger than 10 gallons, ammunition or explosives, air conditioners, asbestos products, latex driveway sealer & latex paint, building or construction debris, tires, furniture, medical waste, pharmaceuticals, propane or other flammable gas cylinders, radioactive materials, scrap metal, metal drums or empty containers, motor oil, car batteries, alkaline or rechargeable batteries.

Latex Paint – Add kitty litter or sawdust to dry out remaining paint, and then place the can in your regular trash
AAA, AA, C, D, 9 Volt and lantern batteries are regular household trash or bring to a rechargeable battery drop off
Rechargeable Nickel Cadmium Batteries and cell phones – Bring to a drop off location at a local retailer
Automotive Batteries and Motor Oil – Drop off at auto centers or local repair shop.
Medications – visit www.dutchessny.gov/solidwaste for drop off locations.

Registration and pre-payment for this HHW event is mandatory. We must receive your $10.00 registration fee no later than the Wednesday prior to Saturday’s event. No monies will be accepted at the collection site.

Please take notice that the Town of North East Zoning Board of Appeals meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2020 is cancelled due to a lack of applications.

Pine Plains Central School District School Budget Vote and Election on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 is Postponed

Dear Members of the Pine Plains Central School District Community:

The very important school budget vote and election that was to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, June 9, 2020, has been postponed.  This postponement is by Executive Order of Governor Cuomo.  There are important aspects of this order that you should be aware of, especially if you have not yet sent in your ballot.

Ballots may be accepted in person or in our drop box at the Stissing Mountain Jr/Sr High School, but only until 5:00 pm tomorrow, June 9th.  After 5 pm tomorrow, the only ballots that may be accepted will be those received by mail.  Mailed ballots will be accepted until Tuesday, June 16th.  All ballots will be counted on Tuesday, June 16th beginning at 5:00pm.

Once again, if you did not receive a ballot and feel that you are a qualified voter of the Pine Plains Central School District please contact the District Clerk, Julia W. Tomaine at (518) 398-7181 ext. 1408.

If you have any questions on the budget please contact me directly at (518) 398-7181 ext. 1401.

One final reminder, the completed ballot should be placed in the enclosed oath envelope. The affidavit on the back of the oath envelope needs to be signed, dated and sealed.  The completed oath envelope is returned in the postage paid envelope provided.

Persons wishing to observe the meeting should contact the Planning Board secretary via email at ne.pb@townofnortheastny.gov to request a link to access the meeting.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the above notice is subject to current and new Executive Orders by the Governor of the State of New York relating to open meetings.

The final Agenda for the meeting will be posted on Friday, June 5, 2020.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the North East Town Board Meeting on June 11, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. will be conducted in a manner pursuant to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.1.  In-person attendance will NOT be permitted.  The meeting will be via “Zoom” and anyone wishing to attend should contact the Town Clerk at northeasttown@taconic.net to request the videoconference link and password.

The videoconference will be recorded and a transcript of the meeting will be made available at a later date.
